Hi

Does anyone know if there is a way i can update pc's with
files downloaded from the microsoft site, not using
windows update. The problem I've got, is that I have 4
pc's at work all running xp home but we have only got 1
dial up connection (the business park wouldn't let adsl
on site initially - a real pain). So as you can
imagine... it would be impossible to update these pc's
with dial up as we would be online for days!

If anyone knows if microsoft allows users to download the
files, and where to get them it would be a huge help.

Many thanks in advance

Sure this is possible a number of ways.
For the service pack itself, get the network install, not
the express. That downloads the full service pack.
For updates, you can
- use the Catalog feature of Windows Update, found by
enabling the link for account options. Then first let it
find what you need, write them down, switch to the Catalog,
find them and download
or
- go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and search for them,
often by their KB number
or
- bring up support.microsoft.com/?id=<article number> as the
KB articles often have a download link. Just replace all of
<article number> with the actual number
