Updater cannot find internet connection

When I try to use "File:/Check for updates..." I get the
error message "Warning, could not connect to the
Internet! Updates have failed. AutoUpdater could not
detect an Internet Connection."
 
Try again--this message sometimes seems to relate to the server end being
transiently unavailable.

At this writing, there should be new definitions, 5682. Look in Help,
about, to see your current definition level.
