Updated WiFi patch, now can't get past opening screen

I downloaded the recommended XP Wi-Fi update (KB826942) on my laptop and now can't get past opening screen which requires intering a password. I never set up a password on this computer, so I don't know what password it wants, and therefore, can't even get into Windows or anything else

How can I get into windows so I can go back before the update? Or what else shall I do?

else shall I do?
 
No, this won't solve it because I never set up password for an administrator, either. Does this mean I have to use the recovery disk and wipe out everything on the hard drive?
