I am trying to upgrade from ME to XP on an HP computer,
but I keep getting message "BIOS is not fully ACPI
compliant". Is this problem with HP computer or Microsoft
XP? More importantly, how do I fix it?
Tks

Get something other than an HP computer - bad mojo...

However, you need to tweak your settings in your BIOS (that is hardware..)
and/or flash your BIOS in order to make it Windows XP compat.

During the XP setup it runs the Upgarde Advisor which lists any and all
hardware and software incompatibilities on your system. Did you not read it?

your bios may not be compatible with XP you need to check
hardware list in microsoft for your computer

Not all HP systems are upgradable without loss of hardware and software, and
since it warns about the BIOS not being fully complient, I would look into
purchasing a new system. If your system is giving you this much negative
feedback, I am sure you can replace the entire system and conseversitally
say your system specs will be doubled for the same price you could upgrade
your current systems hardware and software.
If the current system is working well, for less than $100 US you can set up
a network with the new system and old.
