Using Word 2003
Is there a way to do an update to a style without tracking the updates. In
say, version 2002, you could make a change to the style, then highlight the
style in the style box, press enter, then it would prompt to be updated. Is
there something like this that exists.
I've gotten away from donig a lot of style changes ... and although I
remember all the concepts, I can't seem to find the quick update.
Thanks

Diana,
The method you suggest still works but you have to activate it in the menu
Tools - options - under the edit tab their is an option on the right topside
which can be checked I think it is the fourth from the top in the right
column.

It works here for me, but if you want an even quicker way, open Tools |
Customize, find the Redefine Style command, and add it to a toolbar. You'll
need to select a button face for it since it doesn't have a default icon.

As for the current method, it may be that you have to disable "Keep track of
formatting" for this to work.

Hi Luc,
Thanks for telling me where that feature could be activated ... however
after enabling it, it doesn't seem to be working - even after restarting
word or after a reboot. It should have worked. Interesting.

I've since added the button as suggested by Suzanne and it is working.
Thanks for the response. Appreciated! Diana

Hello Diana,
I tested here also and Suzanne is absolutely right it does not work if
"Keep track of
formatting" is enabled. Personally I am not sut a great fan of keep track
of... so I always disable it. So I you are a fan of Keep track of her
suggestion to add that button is a lifesaver.
Thank you for posting back so we know you solved the problem.
