Speed-O-Meter is a program that measures the TCP/IP speed of all
interfaces on your machine including network adapters and modems. Use it
to test your internet connection speed! It displays the TRUE
transmission speed and does not average it like IE. This program is
freeware. The program requires and installs .NET 1.1 Framework.

As far as I am concerned , NET 1.1 Framework is malicious
spyware from Microsoft. When I installed it, it automatically created
a new user identitiy on my computer and password protected the
user. Later, it also blocked my use of Internet Web Browser
and email by phoning home to an Microsoft Website everytime
I tried to access a homepage on my browser.

After I delted the protected identity and uninstalled the program
all my problems disappeared.

Just my two cents worth!

It shouldn't create a user identity, block your traffic, or call home,
except to check for critical updates. Are you sure that another
program that you might have installed about the same time did this?
If you block the attempts to check for updates you might be seeing
numerous attempts blocked.

I've had v1.0 installed, updated to v1.1 for some time now for nearly
a year now. These are simple runtime files in what appears to be a
self extracting archive.

Would you care to try Total Uninstall and reinstall to verify exactly
what this installation does?

You can also stop this from happening by wrapping your computer in tin
foil.
