Update or not 2 update?

Good afternoon, Go with the Net. Framework (v.1.1), or not. I'm running XPp, on a elderly HP, 850mhz, 128ram, 31 GB spoken for out of 42 GB. I read what I could about v.1.1 and am indiferent. It may be overkill ? I run small business applications, Excell, Word, Quick books. Paint Pro(8). I hook up 2 a computer at the shop (web mail). Thats about it. Net.F sounds like a developers tool, but if there is security, reliability, and staying Windows Updateider you don't loose. Any problems pop-up on anybody? I keep a clean computer (have to). I have the MB's but cringe at knocking 24 down. The chip is showing it's age. Also Messenger(4.7) ? I've almost erased every remnant from it. Do I need to download this 4 security reasons? (Outlook is history also). Last hook too bait. I used +/- progs. & +/- components, plus the old remove the ,Hide, trick. Is there an article around where they give accurate Registry tweaking tips on how to finish them 4 good
Also in +/- components, Is it computer friendly 2 get rid of the COM+ ? I've heard it is not necessary. Sorry bout the paragarph. I've got lots more quirks to cover. Fix 0ne find Three. You folks have been nothing but help 4 me. I'm one of those coggers who missed the whole revolution. 10 Print "Thanks so much" 15 Print "I'm draging and droping now"
 
You should install the .net framework if you use an application that
requires it.

I've heard it is not necessary. Sorry bout the paragarph. I've got lots more

Thanks 4 the advice. Simple & 2 the point. Say Rocket J. Can I download an update to a folder on my desktop, then delete that folder so Win.Update does'nt bother with a reminder. I'm listing several repeaters & two cause driver problems
