Are you sure you have administrative rights?
You can try to reboot the machine in safe mode by
rebooting and holding the f8 key until you get a menu and
use the arrows to scroll up to safe mode. Then hit
enter. Hit enter again when it asks which operating
system . Typically Windows XP Pro. Then, you will see an
administrator icon. This account is NOT your account.
Try to click on it. The default password is nothing but
that could have changed during setup. When you get in,
you can look more closely at your account by right
clicking on my computer and click manage. Then, click on
local users and groups. Click on users. Click on your
name/account and click on the member tab. You should be
a member of the Administrators group. If you are not,
this is your problem.
