I've been trying to update my XP Home Edition. My Outlook
started up VERY slow, if at all, and I thought there may
be a Trojan Horse doing something. I've run McAffee
Viruscan several times, and deleted cookies in temp files
in Internet Explorer, and a variety of other
stopgap/maintenance measures.
Regardless - I can download but not install various
updates, getting this error message:
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file
Update.inf."
I ran File Signature Verification in Accessories/System
Tools, and this detected nothing that I could decipher as
being wrong, though there were MANY files whose signatures
were listed.
That I cannot update a Windows product from a Windows
website is, ummm... typical?
Any help out there?
