Like the OP mentioned: 'It can be compared to Knoppix, but uses GNOME as its
desktop environment.'

Ofcourse you can always install KDE thru apt-get without a problem.

Also Gnoppix used to be based off of Knoppix (hence the name), nowadays it
uses Ubuntu as its base.

About:
Gnoppix is a live Linux CD based on Debian GNU/Linux. It can be compared
to Knoppix, but uses GNOME as its desktop environment. It has a GUI
installation tool to make installing GNU/Linux with a GNOME desktop as
easy as possible.

Changes:
The liveCD may now be installed to the hard disk. The installer can be
activated by using the "install" boot option.

probably a dumb question gordon, but whats the diff between knoppix
and gnoppix? don't they both use the kde desktop ?
