My automatic update is telling me that an update is available but it is
listed at 0KB in size. The system just sits on initializing update and does
not download anything.

What's going on?

Try deleting (or renaming if you're afraid) the Catroot2 folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\CatRoot2

There is no Catroot2 folder.

It's Hidden/System. Open Explorer (not IE), Tools, Folder Options, View tab.
Check "Show hidden files and folders" then Uncheck "Hide protected operating
system files (Recommended)"

Thanks, I found it.

When I delete the folder and try to update, it still comes back and says
unable to install.

I guess I'll wait for final of SP2.

Thanks again,

GR

Um, is that a good idea? You are telling WindowsUpdate that you
haven't installed any patches....

Cheers,
