In setting up my wife's new computer we did the windows update and all
but about 25 loaded OK. I deleted those that failed and replaced them with
new ones from Microsoft.com, but they still show failed on the updates info
on the computer.
Would appreciate your help.

Any updates installed manually do not show up on the WU page.

If you want to check to see if everything has been installed correctly - use
From Microsoft - Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer.

When you go to Windows Update and do a custom scan does it offer any
updates? If not then everything is installed ok. When you manually install
an update it doesn't change what's displayed in Windows update for installed
updates.
