update error number: 0x80072EFD

Unable to updates due to this error number; any advise? NOt able to add all
web address in trusted zones list. Alas, when I go to START, RUN.., and
enter the "notepad" address. When I press enter I get an erorr message. I
reivewed my history of updates. My system was on "automatic updates"
unbeknownst to me, however after Jul2006 all upate attempts were cancelled.
Please help
