Help ! While attempting to get rid of spyware icons on my taskbar I disabled
a function in my registry and can no longer click on the start button,
taskbar or any of the icons on the screen after boot up and sign on. I have
no recovery points as I tried to reinstall windows XP and they were all
wiped out ( with recovery disk)
I know that I can reinstall the whole system with my oem disks, but I have
a large collection of pics. from my digital camera that I do not want to
loose.I would settle for saving them to the CD but I cant access it in safe
mode Does my oem disks have a copy of the oregional registry settings? If not
where can I get a copy and how do I install it over the old one ? Thx. for
your help !

Do you know which registry key you edited to cause this? Press
Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up Task Manager, then start regedit as a new task
and fix what you broke.

Warning Do not use the procedure that is described in this article if your
computer has an OEM-installed operating system. The system hive on OEM
installations creates passwords and user accounts that did not exist
previously. If you use the procedure that is described in this article, you
may not be able to log back into the recovery console to restore the original
registry hives.
