I am installing a new motherboard, chipset, ram, and sound card in a new
case. The OS is XP. I am installing the old hard drive and video card. I
backed up some
stuff I don't want lost onto my external Hard drive, but just wondering if
since the old HD is being used, if after moving it everything will still be
there, like just plug and play? I hope, I hope. Thanks.

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, same IDE controllers, same BIOS version, etc.),
you'll need to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade)
installation, at the very least:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP

As always when undertaking such a significant change, back up any
important data before starting.

This may also require re-activation. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

The problem I'm having at the moment is when I start it up, it's not
detecting any drives, cd, hard drive, or floppy. Tried changing cables,
disconnecting all but one, different ones, but it does not detect anything.
Any ideas there? Bookmarked the repair site for future reference, but gotta
get a drive working. Thanks.
