I will like to upgrade in one of my computer the CPU to a P4 and in another I am upgrading the CPU and the Motherboard. Both system runs with XP professional.

Would I have to reload XP professional in both cases or just when I change out the CPU & Motherboard and how do I go about doing so since XP does not accept its license code the second time around.

Alvin, that first link didn't seem to work. Anyways, for upgrading just
the CPU (make sure your motherboard supports it first) you can sometimes
get away without doing a repair install. For upgrading both the
motherboard and the CPU, you will have to do a repair install as the IDE
Controller has changed and too many other things for XP to handle.

You said you would like to upgrade to a P4, but I highly doubt if you
have a P3 right now, that you can put a P4 in the same motherboard. I
would suggest checking with the motherboard manufacturer to see the list
of supported CPU's. You should be able to change the CPU without having
to do anything though ;)

I'll go out on a limb - there is no motherboard that supports PIII and P4.
They require different chipsets.
