While upgrading an old system to XP Professional, I tried
(without success) to upload a C-Media Speaker Configuation
driver. However, the machine crashed in the process.

Now, whenever the machine is booted a "File Download"
dialog box is displayed giving the file me "Setup.exe" ...
etc.. asking if I "Would like to open file ..." Save is
not an option.

If I press "cancel" the box goes away. But, who needs it.

I have look for this file startup program, but cannot find
it. In System Information, Software Environment, Startup
Programs, the file is listed. Program: C-Media Speaker
Configuration. Command: c:\documents and settings\willson
o. edwards\local settings\temporary internet
files\content.ie5\8g5h9w34\ng180_wdm(1)\setup.exe/speaker
User Name: All Users Location:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

How do I delete this startup file and thus stop the file
download box from appearing?

Thanks,

Willson

Click on Start button and then Run
Type 'msconfig' and hit Enter

A series of tabs should be displayed, the last one showing
all programs which run on stratup. You can simply uncheck
then unwanted ones.

Regards,

Tim
