I have a toolbar in IE and explorer windows called "Remove Toolbar". When I
right click on the toolbar, all options are disabled. I have run adaware
several times.

How do I get rid of this spyware?

Thank you

Is that Ad-aware SE v1.05 ? If it isn't you should download and update it.

Have you tried SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.3 ?

Use the scanning tools in Safe Mode.

Hello,

My problem seems a little different, but maybe close enough. Each time I
start up MS Word a separate tool bar is started (on a separate line -- which
takes up space!) for the American Heritage Dictionary (which I have on CD).
You can of course right-click on File and close that toolbar, but it pops up
again every time

Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks all - I have spend many an hour running through all of the suggested
links and tips show on here for the "remove toolbar". Unfortunately none of
them have worked so far.

This is turning in to quite a personal challenge! I will keep an eye out to
see if anyone has any ideas - but let me know if someone is actually able to
remove this!

Cheers
Russ

Please download, install and update the following software...

Ad-aware SE v1.06
http://www.lavasoft.de/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.4
http://security.kolla.de/

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

You should also try running HijackThis, another free utility. Scan and if you see if
there is an entry for the toolbar, click to put a checkmark to the left of it, then click
the Fix Checked button. Then reboot and hopefully it will be gone. If would be advisable
to open System Restore and create a Restore Point BEFORE using HijackThis, because once
HijackThis removes a registry entry, it is gone. If you make a mistake and remove
something that you need, you can always go back to System Restore, and restore from the
Restore Point that you created just prior to using HiJackThis...

Good information but after getting a HiJack this log, it should be posted to one of the
following forums for the *best* advice on how to proceed. If one makes the wrong move, one
can have disasterous effects and that's why one should get advice from an expert before
making a change.

The sucker is: \windows\system32\jfzph.dll with toolbar menu config:
\windows\rdt.ini

Do a global registry search for jfzph.dll and delete the parent node.

Reboot, ... and you're clean.

Hi All,

Many thanks again I have managed to get rid of the "Remove Toolbar". I
thought I would let you know as it may help? I am not sure which one actually
removed it as I installed the lot. However I think it was:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm
Followed by what volosov wrote. It was a bummer trying to find the right one
to uninstall but I got their in the end.

Many thanks and good luck
Russ
