Unwanted symbols in Microsoft Word documents

Does anyone know how to purge from all of my documents a
newly acquired, unwanted paragraph symbols or prompts and
space dots or prompts? I have no idea why they suddenly
appeared ... they don't print out, but are a distraction
when I am typing or revising a document.

Any assistance regarding how to purge the source of this
nuisance would be appreciated.

Click Tools, Option, View Tab then check or uncheck boxes.

If you don't see the paragraph sign on your tool bar, and want it there, click View, then Toolbars and check what you want to show on your screen. I like the first two, Standard and Formatting.
