Check your Caps Lock key - it seems to have become stuck near the end of
your posting. That or you are upset and you feel the need to convey that
state by using upper case lettering in your posting. Unfortunately for
you - in a similar way that screaming at someone during a normal
conversation does - it usually stops people from wanting to respond to you.
You may want - in the future - to refrain from using the all upper case
lettering tactic to express much of anything (occassionally - an all upper
case lettering word or two is okay - emphasis - but all of them - it can
become annopying at least and difficult to read at best.)
First - what do you mean by, "Since I cleaned out my registry"? In what way
did you 'clean out your registry'? Using what in order to do what? This is
important - since you are (yourself) making the connection to cleaning your
registry and your current problem. The more details given about the
situation surrounding the 'pre-clean state', your reason(s) for 'cleaning
the registry', your chosen method/application for performing the 'cleaning'
and so on - the better anyone might be able to assist you.
Also - you state that if you remove the service pack - you will lose all
files (or that some message states that_ - please post the word-for-word
message that you are interpretting as meaning that... Also - please give
your reasoning for believig uninstalling Service Pack 2 (SP3 was released in
mid-2008) will do anything to resolve your issue.
Your problem (at least the one you see) may be resolved by using this fix:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_m.htm
-- Scroll down (nearly to the bottom) to the section labeled "My Documents
Folder - Opens Upon Boot"
After you follow the directions, I suggest you do a full scan on your
computer with two antimalware products...
Download, install, run, update and perform a full scan (seperately) with the
following two applications (freeware versions are the ones to use for this):
SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/
MalwareBytes
http://www.malwarebytes.com/
After performing a full scan with one and then the other and removing
whatever they both find completely, you can remove the apps from
your computer if desired.
Please do come back and answer the questions presented in the newsgroups.
It will be very useful in troubleshooting the problems you have and possibly
some you do not realize you have now. It will also complete this posting -
letting everyone know how things went for you and what helped/did not help.
In that way - those who search for answers may find what they need before
ever posting.
