When signing on get message Windows has recovered fm fatal error. I ex out
and continue. when I shut down pc automatically restarts. Why does it restart
withour me asking it to?

The fatal error is occuring during shutdown, and you are set to 'restart on
error'

A shutdown troubleshooter http://aumha.org/a/shtdwnxp.htm

Press WinKey-Break,(or start/run 'sysdm.cpl'), click Advanced Tab, Start
Up... area, Settings button, Remove check from "Automatically Restart" On the
next shutdown you will be able to read what caused the restart (when it
errors)

Try to Look in the Event Viewer for Any Error Messages that can shed some
light on the causer and post it back in your next Post.
On how to access the Event Viewer do the following:
- Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr click [OK]
There you will see three Options/Folders:
Application
System
Security
By clicking on each and look in the Right Pane/Window you will see a report
Log Double click on the error Message (X) to get more info and you can copy
and paste in your next post.

Did you update or install the Adobe 7.0 lately?, what version of Adobe you
have on your system?.
http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc2ffd5
Uninstall all Adobe Versions on your system and Run Disk cleanUp then
Install the latest version of Adobe from:
http://www.adobe.com

My feeling this is an overheated System, and you need to check the CPU is
cooling your system or change the Thermal component that might burnt and need
to be cleaned and refreshed with a new thermal.
Again it doesn't hurt to make sure your system is clean from malware and
viruses by scanning.
