I setup XP on a brand new computer. I decided to partition
the computer into 2 partitions but i always then have a
3rd partition that is about 8mb in size. When i ask XP
setup to delete the partition, it said that this partition
is used by XP to store parition informations.

How to remove? is it everybody's problem or just mine?

Hi guys and girls,

Thanks for explaining to me that it is part of NTFS
system. However, i have found a workaround to totally
avoid allowing XP to make the 8mb partition, which it
claims to be for it's own partition information storage.

This 8mb partition only appears when a user wants more
than one partition.

To avoid, create one partition of size which you wanted in
the new unpartitioned harddrive. ( delete all partitions
in harddrive to make it unpartitioned) Leave the rest of
the space as unpartitioned. Go ahead to install your XP.

After the completion of the installation, go to control
panel and select administrative tools. Then select
computer management icon and ,afterwards, select disk
management. You should see your harddrive on your right.
Carry on to create an extended partition/ or primary
partition for the rest of the unpartitioned space. Then,
you would not get the 8mb wasted partition.

8mb is not alot but this 8mb is right at the front of the
harddisk which is the fastest portion in term of access
time.
