I have several items in "My Favorites" that I didn't put
there...I delete them and they come right back. Ran
Spybot AND Adaware but couldn't find anything. Now I've
got 2 websites on my desktop (Online gambling and Diet
Pills). I have no idea where they came from.

swkerry,
Go to: http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic", copy and paste hijackthis.log into your new message.

I seem to have a similar problem. My IE6 has been hijacked
I suspect with a aload of Adult Links on my favourites and
a "Lucky" home page which I now cannot change.
Is this another example of the same thing?
I also could not uninstall IE so had to physically remove
all the folders and files and re-install Win 98.
Overkill perhaps
