Perhaps if you could tell us what urls are being added to your favorites
and your desktop ...

What spyware programs have you run and did you run them in normal or
safe mode?

You have malware. Try the MS Antispyware Beta... and try posting in
microsoft.public.security.homeusers for more help ridding your computer of
these pests.

I run Ad-Ware Se, Spykiller, SBC Yahoo Anti Spy.
As far as I know in normal mode.

You need to run them in Safe Mode. To get to Safe Mode, reboot and hit
F8 continuously and you will get a list of modes, choose Safe Mode with
Networking and do the scanning there. Go to

http://www.pandasoftware.com/produc...5D4-4DA2-B310-B1DBEC2971F2}&NRCACHEHINT=Guest

and do the scan with Internet Explorer. Run your anti virus as well.

Go back to normal mode and run the spyware programs again. Download
Spyboot, Search and Destroy, http://www.safer-networking.org/ go back to
Safe Mode and run it too.

Get CCleaner from www.ccleaner.com and run it in both modes.

Hello, May I suggest that the following free utilities may be of some help.
"SpywareBlaster", "Spybot-Search and Destroy" and install a "hosts" file
from a MSVP site. After downloading update. All can be found using a "Google"
search.
take care.

Well, I don't consider myself a "techie" and it is working just fine on my
computer......so why shouldn't I be using it??

An MVP suggested it, which is the only reason I put it on in addition to the
usual spyware programs. I rarely get spyware to be honest.

I have had no problems running this whatsoever, on a gazillion
machines.

Yes. And I have installed it for many people who aren't techies. I don't
generally do this with beta software; this is a special case. None of the
users I've installed it for has had any problems; they know that when
they're notified of product expiration, they are to either uninstall it
(they know how) or call me (they know that too). :)

Heather, MSAS works fine. I have it running on several systems for some
time with no problems. It was purchased by MS from Giant and was a
highly rated program when Giant had it. I don't really understand why
some folks bash it, but it's a good addition. You should not rely on a
single anti-spyware program anyway.

It's good software. Even if MS decides to release it as a purchased product,
I will still recommend it ( I used to recommend GIANT before it was Borged,
and this was one of their apps).

Hello , Try Webroot "SpySweeper" run this in real time , all the time . Spy
Sweepers "IE Favorites Shield" saves "Favorites" blocks websites from jumping
onto the Favorites list 100% . You will get a pop-up from time to time .. to
select all or select the favorites you want to keep .

MSAS was run on one of our machines today and everything came up clean. Then
I ran Ewido on the same machine and Ewido found newdotnet. You definitely
need more than one app to scan for malware.
