In May 2002, i purchased a PC in kit to assemble with an O/S wich is Windows
XP Home Edition French version. I can't use it anymore, beacause Microsoft
has decided that, this copy is no longer valid, due to many reinstallations

Due to frequent power shutdowns, severs malfunctions and very nasty
virusses,i had no choice, but to reinstall the whole thing, when these events
accures

I am shure that my CD ROM of Windows XP is a genuine product, it has been
purchased in the town of Laval in the province of Quebec at Microbytes store.
I have the serial number and the user key,for i lost the tags, while i have
to replace the whole PC due to a fire. With this witch hunting stuff of
theirs, Microsoft creates more problems in the user community, then they find
solutions, wich is a serious blow to productivity. By the meen time,,here is
my product id and the user'key
Serial number; 55639-OEM-0016025-87928
User key; WMDBR BTBCM 64RPV Y8XQV 6VTGY

Windows XP Home isn't presently installed on my PC,due to the lock of my O/S
by Microsoft

P.S The CD ROM thst is my posession is printed with an hologram, wich prooves
that this copy is a genuine one

The manufacturer made the decision to limit the number of reinstalls. This
is not a Microsoft "witch hunt'. It is too bad you lost the PC in a fire.
Insurance should cover the cost of a new PC which you could have replaced
with XP on it. Because your version of XP was an OEM version you need to
contact the manufacturer of the system for assistance. OEM versions are tied
to the first system they are installed on and Microsoft does not offer tech
support for OEM versions.

It is very, very unwise to post all of your personal information on a public
newsserver like this.

Now that you have taken it upon yourself to make
your Product Key known to the public, you don't
have to worry about it being valid or not.

OEM versions of Windows XP:

-- cannot upgrade over an existing Windows installation.
-- must be installed "clean" on a freshly reformatted drive or partition.
-- cannot be transferred to a different computer in the future.
-- only hardware component you cannot change is the motherboard model.
-- the license cannot be sold or transferred to another user.
-- are not eligible for free Microsoft technical support.
-- any problems whatsoever with the installation CD or Product Key.
is not eligible for Microsoft support....you have to deal with the "seller".
-- cost less than "retail versions" due to the above limitations/risks.

Best Advice: Purchase a "Retail Version" of Windows XP!

Contact your insurance company, as it is part and parcel of the PC that
was lost in the fire.

ROFL! Even Canadian Surrender Monkeys are totally stupid!

Does Canada have a social security type number you can post to the
group, as the lurking identity thieves may need it!

That's nonsense. There's no limit to the number of times you can
reinstall and activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is
there ever a charge. Nor does a Product Key (so long as it's not an
evaluation license) ever expire. If it's been more than 120 days since
you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able
to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

Of course you had a choice. Formatting the hard drive to solve a virus
or spyware problem is rather like using an axe to trim one's
fingernails. Sure, it'll probably get the job done, but it's rather
messy...., and almost always unnecessary.

Now that you've so naively broadcast that Product Key to the world, you
will have no end of problems activating. And every one of them are no
one's fault but your own. Dozens of wannabe software pirates will be
trying to use it and resell it on eBay.

You mean, "due to your own lack of knowledge," don't you?

Never ever divulge your serial number in an online forum.
You can rest assured that pirates are using your serial
number as we speak.

Use competent antivirus and anti-spyware software to
resolve your virus/spyware issues. Don't automatically
reformat your drive and reinstall Win XP. Doing so is
a colossal waste of time and energy.

Yeah well, it depends on your deductable. I currently have a $1,000
deductable to save money on annual home insurance.

Still, before, when I had a problem with a pipe breaking and my $500
deductable, after filing for the claim, which I got compensated, they
raised the premium to get back their money I guesss. Sort of makes you
shop around for new insurers. It seems after you make a claim, you have
to switch insureers.
