Which vendor/model scanner ? Insufficient memory is a generic
description and doesn't help us to help you. Generally, you may
have Temp folders that are overloaded with content ( Too many
files & folders within it). The message may also relate to Virtual
Memory space. It would also help your case, to check both the
System/Application Event logs and check for recent errors.
Event Viewer accessible by:
Click Start, Run (Type) EventVwr.Msc [Press Enter]
I would also purge the two Temp folders: (Empty)
1.) C:\Windows\Temp
2.) C:\Docs & Settings\'YourLoginName'\Local Settings\Temp

How much RAM memory?Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task
Manager and click the Performance Tab. Under Commit
Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

How large is your hard drive and how much free space?

What is your CPU processor speed? Right click on your My
Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get
this information and the amount of RAM memory.

Hope this helps.

Then not much help can be given.
What is the make and model of the scanner, did you download from the scanner
makers web site the latest XP drivers and install them for the scanner? Did
you check the scanner makers web site for troubleshooting steps? I would
have looked for you, but my crystal ball is in the repair shop due to over
use. 8-)
BTW, it is insufficient not unsufficent.

Leave the scanner unplugged. Navigate on the CD disk and locate
(If it exists separately) the Drivers folder. Locate the .Inf file and
Right Click it and then Left Click the "Install" option. Reboot the
PC and then re-insert the USB plug. Many driver sub-folders are
OS specific, so make sure you choose Windows 2000/XP.

Just a friendly word of advice... don't put the > mark next to your reply.
That's used for marking the quotation from the previous post. Makes it hard
to pick out your new words.
