I am going nuts trying to prepare a document with multiple sections. The
front matter has a table of contents and such like. I have given it Roman
numeral pagination. The next section should use regular (Arabic) numbering
and begin at page 1. On its own, however, it constantly resets itself to
continue the number follwing the previous section. Thus the last page of the
front matter is page iv and the first page of the actual text is 5.
I have set and reset the system many times. I go into the page formatting
regularly and change it to begin at 1. I have gotten rid of the notation that
says continue from previous section. I have tried everything I can find. It
keeps resetting itself automatically every time I go to print or open the
file anew.
Is there some setting in the options box or somewhere else that will tell
Microsoft to quit changing the footer from the way I've set it?
