Unremoveable Favorites and unremoveable desktop icons

I have six very objectionable Desktop Icons that I can't get rid of. I delete them but the always come back when I fire up
Also, I have "Favorites" in my Internet Explorer that I can't permanently delete. They come back every time I power up
My ISP is AOL. Never use Explorer or Outlook Expres
 
Have you tried running Adaware or Spybot or both?
