unremoveable desktop icon!

i have made a shortcut of the control panel to place on my
desktop but,icon does not load control panel,left click
says cannot create shortcut here,right clicking just asks
to create another shortcut,i've tried to delete this icon
every way i know how to no avail,any ideas on how to
delete this icon would be great! thanx in advance for any
help i can get

How did you create that icon? Dragged Control Panel to the Desktop and created a shortcut? or thru some other means.

I believe it is in the registry, so it can't be removed by just
deleting. I think tweakui allows you to remove some icons like that
