Installing xp pro over xp home have encountered the above
error when installation is registering components
Full message reads:
the procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be locatedin
the dynamic link libraryMSDART.DLL

There are no options at this point but to power off and
when system is rebooted it returns to setup and eventually
reaches the same point and same error

There is no access to safe mode or original operating
system

Help!!!!!

When the problem occurs, press Shift + F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type: taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process.

Hello Graham,

Give this a shot:

boot to the Windows XP CD
if asked press "F10" to install a fresh copy
press "R" for recovery console
log into the correct install
expand D:\i386\msdart.dl_ C:\windows\system32
reboot the computer and let setup continue

Hope this helps
