Hi guy's;

On Windows XP logon, at the welcome screen, where you sign in.....just below
the user's name there is an entry for how many unread email messages you
have. Is there a way to permanantly delete this entry?? It's not causing any
problems, I just don't like it.!

Thanks;
Anna

Download and install TweakUI:

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP (TweakUI)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

After installing, go to Start > Programs > PowerToys for Windows XP >
TweakUI. Expand "Logon" and uncheck "Show unread mail on Welcome screen".

Note: Unread message alerts may indicate you have unread messages not only
in Outlook Express, but Hotmail and/or MSN email accounts as well.

Update:

Little late, but this is what I edited to delete the Unread Mail messages
entry on the Win XP logon screen, just in case anyone else is interested in
removing that entry. Seems to have done the trick, anyway [Thanks to
Purplehaz for directing me in the right area]:

Start/Run/Regedit

Scroll down to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail
Right click the UnreadMail folder
Click Permissions
Click System
Put a checkmark in Deny (This appears to also check Read)
Click Apply
Click OK

I originally tried deleting the entry (After exporting the key), but that
had some bad effects on the mouse function at the logon screen - so don't go
there :)
