Unneeded extra page when printing a columnar report

I have a report with 2 columns, set to print down, then across. Access
prints an empty next page even though the second column is only half
full. There are no controls extending past the right margin, or even
close to them (and the second page doesn't show any partial
controls--it's perfectly blank). I'm guessing that somehow the second
page is triggered when the first column reaches the end of the page.
Can someone tell me how to inhibit the unneeded page?

Are you using a group footer on the report? Is it possible that it contains
a control that is causing the blank page? Do you have any of the "start new
page" options (before this section; after this section; etc.) set for any
section of the report?

Also look under File|Page Setup, and check whether the width of the
column x 2, plus the Gutter, plus the left and right page margins,
totals less than the physical width of the paper.

No group header or footer; no page footer; the Detail section (the
only section except for Page Header) has Force New Page set to None.
Column width set to 3 in with a .25" gutter..margins are at .5" each.
This adds up to 7.25", and the paper width is 8.5". I've checked
every object on the object list, and none of 'em extend over the
virtual page....
Puzzling....

If you can zip up the database, email it to me and I'll take a look. Provide
full instructions about which report.

My email address is obtained by removing the words this is not real from my
return email address ( (e-mail address removed) ).

There's confidential as well as proprietary data involved..I'll see
how well I can purge and disguise it. Thanks for the offer!
