UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. I'm trying to upgrade my windows
2000 to XP pro but it says UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. then i
tryed formating and installing it cleanly and it still
gave me this blue screen of death. I looked on the support
thing, and found something that applys to this problem but
it still doesnt work. I have all new parts in this
computer. what i dont understand is why windows 2000 works
fine on the computer but XP wont install? Please help me!

Follow all the steps.
Do not skip the hardware steps just because it works with Windows
2000.
Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at
both ends.
Laptop:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.
If that fails:

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and
download their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without their overlay
software which is not needed anyway.
