UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME?

Hi, I've had problems recently with this error and have
been forced to recreate partitions and reinstall windows
several times now. I'm trying to pinpoint what is causing
this, but I need a little help.

The first time the error occured was about 1 1/2 months
ago, then a month later or so, and now again two weeks
after this last reinstall.

Something that strikes me as the possible cause is; I
upgraded my memory and added an additional stick of 512mb
of ram. This was shortly before the error started
occuring, can bad memory cause this? Even though the
memory works?

If anyone has help with any other possible causes or
suggestions on ways to track this, I'd much appreciate
it. I'm in the world of warcraft beta, and having to re-
download a 2gb file every month or so due to this is
becoming frustrating.

Remove the memory and see if error stops.

Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at
both ends.
Laptop:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and
download their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without their overlay
software which is not needed anyway.
