Hi,

Does anyone know of a way that i can set up a account on
my windows xp system so that when it is in "Locked" mode
that our caretaker can come round and type in a special
username and password to be able to shut down the
computer without him having to know my password or being
able to access any data.

Many thanks
James Rizzi

What happens if he holds down the power button for 5
seconds? Some machines will shut down the system cleanly
from there.

The problem is that if you have open data on the machine
and you shut down you might loose the data??

the other option MIGHT be to issue a shutdown command at
say midnight each night, so if the PC is still on it will
kill it... ...?

Maybe you should get in the habit of logging oyut when you are finished? Or make the caretaker (scarey) and Administrator as the administrator account can over-ride the opened locked user account and log in but any unsaved work in the pleb subordinateaccount will be lost if not saved
