I have amn.dll on my machine that is recognized as a
virus/trojan/"bad program". Norton picked it up. It is a
homepage (about:blank) insertion program. Norton is
unable to delete. I am unable to delete the file through
explorer (even through a SAFE boot). How do I unlock THIS
file. I attempted to follow the direction in the help
section regarding unlocking a file to no avail. Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Are you sure about the spelling? Neither "amn.dll" nor "amn" show up on
Symantec's online virus database. Symantec's database usually includes
detailed removal instructions.

Symantec assigns a specific name to every virus and trojan in its database.
What is the name of the virus or trojan you discovered?

I have spent alot of time on symantec online. Trust
me..the file is amn.dll. I know that it is not in the
database as that, but that is what the antivirus program
picks up. Further research shows that it is a homepage
insertion program. Symantec's "detailed" removal
instructions stated to find the the file through explorer
and delete it. It could not delete it and neither can I.
That is why I am asking this question on this board.
Thanks in advance.
Frustrated Dan (lol)

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options > View. Place a
checkmark in 'Show hidden files and folders'. Now search again.

rocket,

I found the file on my system. Windows (or the program)
does not let me delete it. I need to know how to unlock
and delete.
Thanks
Dan
