We upgraded our NT4 to w2k domain. After the upgrade the
w2k pros cannot connect to the w2k adomain company.com.
When I pinged the domain (company.com) I got this error
message "Unknown host company.com. The client is a DHCP
client. I was able to ping from a w2k server with static
address. Can somebody please help me. Thanks.

Have you update the DHCP scope to hand out the internal DNS server to the
clients? The clients will need to be configured to use the internal DNS
server containing the DNS records for the AD domain and not to use an ISP's
DNS server.

Thanks for your reply. I added both the Internal and ISP
DNS in the DHCP Scope option. Do you mean I should remove
all the ISP DNS IP Addresses from this section? Thanks
again. Just to let you know, I could not ping company.com
from a w2kpro pc. Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, your clients should not list an ISP DNS server just the internal DNS
server for the domain (which should be configured to forward to the
Internet).

Thank you for your response. I Removed the ISP DNS from
the DHCP, and just used the forwarder to forward the ISP
DNS, and everything is working fine now. Thank you very
much.
