Unknown Files in Windows

Earlier today I successfully installed SP2. I then noticed a huge decrease
in unused space. Looking for the reason, I came across two huge files,
LPT$VPN.186 AND VPTNFILE.I86. Each one is 9,653KB and each have the same
time/date. What are they, and can I delete them?
