Hi all,

I have suddenly started receiving an error message in Access which just says
"Unknown" with the red circle with a white cross in.

This happens in any database, when i either add a 2nd table to the WYSIWIG
query design view, or go into the relationships window - even if there is no
relationships in the database.

When accessing from a webpage, i get this error...
"0x80040E14 - Unknown"

I am completely lost. I have tried running detect and repair to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much

Matt

PS: I think it happened after installing loads of critical updates from
Windows Update. Im running Windows 2000 Pro, with Office 2000

forgot to say, if i enable the global.asa file i get the following error
when opening any asp page....

Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0134 (0x80004005)
The object has an invalid ProgID of 'Scripting.Dictionary'.
//global.asa, line 30

Line 30 is part of an object and reads...
PROGID="Scripting.Dictionary"

ARGH! Im tearing my hair out.

Could it be the problem described in the KB article below?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317708
You receive an "Unknown" error message when you open a table in
Access 2002

YES!!!!!
YES YES YES YES YES!!!

Ur a bloody genious, although it isnt 2002 it worked.

Thanks so much mate.

What is msjtes40.dll anyway?

Matt

All works, except im still getting the following in web pages when
global.asa exists

Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0134 (0x80004005)
The object has an invalid ProgID of 'Scripting.Dictionary'.
//global.asa, line 30

You got me on that one; it's outside my are of expertise. If it just
started happening at the same time as the other problem, and doesn't
reflect a pre-existing error, then I'd guess that it may have a similar
cause -- some DLL isn't registered properly; maybe "scrrun.dll", which
(on my system, at least) defines a Scripting.Dictionary object.

hahaha, YES! It worked!

Ok, while were on a run, what dll might not be registerred thats stopping
photodraw from opening?

Error: Unable to start the application

All this started at the same time, bloody windows update did it!

Thanks very much

You realize you're leading me farther and farther afield. Now I'm
having to resort to Google -- something you could do as well. So I
googled for

photodraw "Unable to start the application"

and among the things I came up with was

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;250833
PhD1: Error Message: Unable to Start the Application

If that's the problem, it looks like the answer isn't as simple as just
reregistering a DLL. I don't see why your system update would have
caused this problem, though -- but what do I know?
