Hi

Due to unknown reason system shut downs itself.

Usually it happens when converting video with Windows Media encoder or
launching setup.

System log contains no information about error.

PC vendor has checked hardware but found no problems.

Any ideas?

David

First thing I would check would be heat problems. Make
sure all your internal cooling fans, cpu fan, power supply
fan are running and are getting sufficient air flow. For
a system to just automatically shut itself down, usually
suggests heat problems.

Encoding uses quite a bit of processing power. What exactly is your
system, how is the heat, and are you up to date on your drivers?

I see you are on XP SP1, so I'm going to guess your computer is
up-to-date on fixes and such. The only other thing I can think of is
how is your power supply? Your computer may be demanding too much power
and the PSU can't keep up. I would recommend checking your computer
info with Everest Home from www.lavalys.com to see how the temp is and
your voltages. It seems odd that Windows does not notify you of errors.

Jeez, there for a second I thought I was looking at my computer info. I
have almost the exact same config except my video card is a 9800XT and
my memory is PC4000. I am running a 420 Watt Antec PSU on my computer.
I would try seeing if a new power supply fixes the problem (and if
not, you can always return it) ;)

Also, you can try reinstalling Windows or doing a repair installation by
booting off your XP CD, choose to Install, then press R to repair.

Thank you for your information.

I already try to reinstall windows but it dosn't fixs problem.
I'll follow your advice and change PSU with more poweful one.
let's see what happens. I'll let you know.

Hi

For 2 weeks my hardware was tasted by professionals but no problem was
revealed.
In addition I installed chassis cooler to avoid overheating of motherboard &
CPU.
And finally I found that my UPS has problems:))))))))))
So my PC is OK

Thanks

David
