I have a copy of Windows XP Professional on my computer, and I bought a properly licensed Windows XP Home but I can't get Windows XP Prof. uninstalled. It is not listed in the Control Panel --> "add/remove prgrams" list. It seems to be causing problems with the home edition I just bought. Any suggestions?

Insert the new cd, boot from cd, and format C: then install new cd to C:.
( you will loose all data on C: of course, so back up first. )

Greetings --

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique. In order to do this, you must have the WinXP Home
installation CD.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
