How can I uninstall the last 3 Windows updates? My computer started acting
"nuts" around that time and I want to see if they are the problem. I do not
see them in Add/Remove programs. If you can, please provide detailed
instructions. I am a real novice. Thanks.

If you don't see them in Add Remove Programs (make sure you click on Show
Updates), you can't uninstall them....but you might try a system restore to
a pint right before you did the update.

However, a) it would be good to know what "nuts" means and b) it might help
to know which three updates you installed. Generally, these are critical
patches and should not be uninstalled - you may be able to get some help
with the symptoms if you actually describe them concisely.

If any or all of those were driver updates - and only you can say what
updates were installed - go to device manager and roll back the drivers
for each device that was updated. Next time don't get driver updates
from the windows update site. Only get those from the device
manufacturer's site or the computer OEM. You also might want to change
the Automatic updates feature so that it downloads but does not install
until you tell it to. That way you can see what is going to be
installed and decide if you want it.

To access Device Manager right click My Computer | Manage | Device
Manager. Expand the section for that device, double click it, and on
the driver tab take roll back driver.

I am having several problems: 1) When I start my computer my AIM buddy list
loads and I click on the X to hide it; however, a few days ago when I clicked
on the X nothing happened. I continued to get the hourglass and my computer
froze. 2) I just ran Live Update in NIS and there was one update that
couldn't be installed--Norton AntiVuris update. It had an error code and the
message "click on here for more information" When I clicked on the
underlined message, nothing happens. This has been the case for several
underlined sites that couldn't be accessed by clicking on them. 3) I just
tried to do a system scan from Symantec's web site and when ActiveX tried to
load there was a pop up message that said "Norton AntiVirus 2005 does not
support the repair feature. Please uninstall and reinstall". All the
ActiveX Controls and Scripting are "Enbabled" on my machine. I tried
disabling NIS and still couldn't do the scan from Symantec. A Virus scan
with NIS indicates my system is clean. 4) I just tried to do a System
Restore to a date in October and another to a date in November. Both times
I got the message "Your computer cannot be restored to (date) I clicked on
Help, but it doesn't say why I can't use System Restore. I am at my wit's
end. Have no idea what to try next other than a complete System Recovery
which I am not at all confident in doing.

Sorry Uncle Grumpt. I thought I was replying to Lanwench. You sure do live

Unlikely.

If you've no clue, don't post a reply

I think Rock's suggestion was perfectly logical. If you're going to post in
here yourself, please play nicely with the other children. Pax.
