Uninstalling software

Is there a way to uninstall software other than going to
control panel add or remove? That is not working for me.
I get error 1713. I was trying to install a scanner and
was installing the software first and it went wacky so I
thought I would uninstall and retry but it won't work.
Can anyone help???
 
Joan,

Try reinstalling the software and then uninstall it clean via Add/Remove
programs.

If that does not help, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and remove
the traces for that program. Then reinstall it.
