I have XP pro. running on a machine, I want to uninstall
it and instead have my old windows 2k pro.
How do I uninstall XP?? I don't have the option UNINSTALL
XP on control panel.
I tried to put my win2k pro cd and start from there, but
PC for some reason doesn't read it.

thank you in advance

You must instruct your BIOS to boot from the CD. The process is described in
detail in the manual that came with your PC. You will then get a chance to
format your hard disk, or to install Win2000 in a folder other than
c:\Windows.

You will need to make sure the bios is set to boot from CD, or have the Win
2k Boot floppies to initiate the W2k setup. Run setup from the W2k CD or
from the W2k i386 folder from your hard drive. You will need to delete the XP
installation and let Win2k setup format the empty space.
You cannot run the Win 2k setup from XP.

Greetings --

There is no "rollback" to Win2K.

To replace WinXP with an earlier OS, you'll have to boot from the
appropriate boot disk, format the hard drive, and install. There is
no supported downgrade path or technique.

Simply boot from the Win2K installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and/or format the system partition as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
