Uninstall XP Pro

I had XP Home Edition on my computer and my friend gave me XP Pro - I
installed that and after I entered the key code it told me the code is
already used & I now have 26 days remaining to enter the code. I tried to
restore to XP Home (using system restore) but it will not restore before the
day I entered XP Pro. How do I get back to Home edition
 
Start computer with XP home in the Cd drive.
Make sure CD is set as 1st boot device in BIOS
watch for the screen that says "push any key to boot from CD"
push any key
go thru the installation routine........you will need to format the
partition/HD that XP pro is on in order to install Home.
Be sure to backup what you wish to save.........and be prepared to reinstall
all of the programs that were on that partition/drive.
This is the price you pay when you do not read the EULA that basically says
XP Home/Pro can only be installed on ONE machine at a time.

If on the other hand he has deleted that copy of XP pro from his machine you
need to do a telephone activation and explain the situation.

Hi,

The upgrade is a one way street, so your choices are limited.

1) If the copy is legit and is no longer being used by anyone else, call in
a phone activation. Run the activation wizard and choose this option to get
the proper phone number.

2) Backup your data to CD/USB/Floppy drive, then follow the manufacturer's
instructions to do a clean installation of your original version of WinXP
Home. You could use the Files and Settings Transfer wizard to create a
backup before doing this.

3) Purchase a legal version of WinXP Pro Upgrade and do a repair
installation using the new Product Key.

Unless your friend gave it to you and no longer is using it, you will need
to do a clean install.
You boot from the CD and do a clean install or use the restore media to get
back to Home.
