Yesterday, I purchased Windows XP profession and installed
it on my laptop which was running Windows 98. We did not
activate or register the software.

Since, my wife and I have determined that Windows XP
professional would better serve our needs if I would have
installed it on our Desk Top PC.

My question is - Can I uninstall the Windows XP from my
laptop and reinstall Windows 98, then can I install the
Windows XP Professional on my PC?

If so, how should I go about the process of uninstalling
Windows XP on the laptop and then installing it on my PC.
Then, if possible, how should I go about reinstalling
Windows 98 on my laptop?

Yes.

When you installed, if you chose to save the old OS, Windows XP should be
listed in Add and Remove programs. If it's not there, you didn't save your
old files, and you'll have to format the drive and start over.
Then, if possible, how should I go about reinstalling
Windows 98 on my laptop?

From whatever media came with it when you got it.
