Hi,
I appreciate the input of those who responded earlier. I
have Norton AntiVirus as well as Sygate Personal Firewall
and Adaware all installed on my computer. Not one of
them has identified these services as being generated by
a virus or that they are "threats" in any manner.
I had Process Viewer installed as it was provided on the
installation disk for Norton Systemworks 2004. It does
not list these services. They are listed under
services.msc; however, they are identified as
being "manual" start services and no other information is
provided.
I have tried several search engines and other sites to
find this information including Google, Metacrawler,
ZDNet, and not one of them was able to identify them.
I recall vaguely that the first service may be related to
a hardware device, although I cannot be certain of that
and couldn't say off-hand what hardware it was that I
found the information on. I have a Creative Soundblaster
Live soundcard and I think that this may be associated
with it. Could anyone confirm this that also has this
soundcard? I have downloaded the most up-to-date
software provided by Creative including drivers.
The second service may be related to an Adobe program as
it appeared shortly after I cancelled the installation of
one of their programs. Again, is this service on the
computers of any other users of Adobe Photoshop CS?
The services in question are:
1) Cretsoecn
2) Arptsbrd
I have sent emails to all of the manufacturers of the
hardware associated with my system including PCI cards
and have not received any helpful information from them.
Your assistance would be most welcome. It seems peculiar
that these services are listed as being "manual" start as
opposed to ongoing running services also listed.
Thanks,
Jim
