I want to uninstall windows messenger. Help files say go
to add/remove progs. Simple except, it ain't there.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Hello Jim,

Try this copy 'RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove' without the quotes paste it into the
Start|Run dropdown edit control, then hit OK. Do a reboot, it 'should not'
come back.

Hi Jim,

To make it appear under Add or Remove:

Locate the SYSOC.INF file in the Windows\Inf folder. Double click this file
and change the following line:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

to read

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

(remove the "hide", leave the single quotes)

Windows Messenger will now show up in Add/Remove Programs, Windows
Components where you can uninstall it.

Easier method and this one also removes the delay from OE once it is
removed:
