I agree with "Jupiter Jones [MVP]". Most likely your computer is
shutting down because it is overheating and your BIOS ACPI Shut
Down Temperature function doing its job.
You may be able to determine whether or not this is the problem
by checking your CPU specs to determine the maximum CPU
temperature for your particular processor. Perhaps your CPU is
listed on the following Web Site:
The Heatsink Guide Test Reports
http://www.heatsink-guide.com/maxtemp.htm
And then check your motherboard manual (either printed or
online) to see if your BIOS Setup Interface has a Hardware
Monitor sub-menu that shows your Current CPU temperature. Also
check to see if it has a ACPI Shut Down Temperature function and
if it does note the Temperature that is selected for the feature
to automatically power off your computer.
BTW, my computer is a cheap one built by a small shop that came
with one of those $6 CPU heat sink/fan combo's. And when I first
got my computer the ACPI Shut Down feature of my BIOS would
automatically shutdown my computer when I surfed the Web, etc..
The problem was caused by the fact that my computer came with one
of those $6 CPU heat sink/fan combo's.
Even opening the case of the computer, and accelerating air
circulation (without pointing the box fan directly at the CPU),
did not solve the problem. After I replaced the POS fan with a
good one (and applied Arctic Silver thermal compound between the
processor core and the heatsink) my problem was resolved!
