unexpected rebooting

My system in the last few days has rebooted unexpected
for no reason. It has happened 3 times. This system was
built back in March. I did add more memory to it
tuesday, but is that enough for it to reboot like that?
I originally had a pair of corsair twinx 256 pc 2700 333
fsb and just added a stick of 512 corsair pc 2700 333 fsb
all of which is the model 2700ll. Do I need to witch the
slots they are in and see if that helps? The 512 mb is
in the slot that is further away from the 2 slots that
are side by side and I have the 2 pair of 256 modules in
those slots. Windows shows the memory as a gig as
expected, but it's weird for it to reboot like that for
no reason. I downloaded java the other night, but I
don't see that as a problem because it did reboot before
I even downloaded. Maybe the memory is bad, but don't
see how.

"Automatic restart" is the XP default. Turn that off, to possibly see an
error being generated.
Control Panel|SYSTEM|ADVANCED tab|START UP AND RECOVERY. UNcheck the box.

There seems to be a correlation between adding the new memory and the
problems. Just for kicks, reseat the memory modules. Then, if that doesn't
work, try removing the new sticks. If it works properly, replace the old
sticks with the new and see if its behavior changes. If so, the sticks may
be bad.

Hi! I had the same problem, after adding a new slot of 512 RAM. I've changed
with a new slot and now all works fine. Bye France

Had compusa check the memory for me and it was bad. They
stuck it in a pc up there and kept getting error messages
and the memory would not get recognized. I will rma it.
